At COTP, we take environmental, social, and economic issues into account in our corporate development. To this end, we implement various concrete measures across our portfolio. A large number of our hotels have GreenSign certification.

We involve our guests, partners, and employees in these activities and provide transparent information about our measures and their progress.

Water saving

Laundry cleaning requires a lot of water. By using it conscientiously and appealing to our guests, we can save a significant amount of water. Aerators in water fittings also help to reduce water consumption.

All hotel locations and the headquarters have reached the highest level to be achieved by Green Sign and have acquired the GSTC-compliant sustainability certification.

Waste reduction

Thanks to good waste separation and effective waste avoidance concepts, much less waste is produced. We do not use packaging materials and are “zero waste” approved at some locations, for example for breakfast.

Environment & Resources

ENVIRONMENT & RESOURCES

We address the environmental impact of our hotel operations and implement measures that address, among other things, energy and water consumption, waste management, and emissions resulting from our operations.

Energy and Building Systems
Depending on the specific location and building, our hotels utilize a variety of technical solutions. These include, for example, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems with heat recovery, as well as photovoltaic systems for generating and, in some cases, storing solar power. In addition, we implement measures to reduce energy and water consumption.
Waste Management
We track and analyze the types of waste generated and implement measures to prevent and separate waste. These measures include, among other things, the use of recyclable materials as well as bulk containers and refill systems, which we are introducing in our hotels in collaboration with partner companies.
Resource and Food Management
In addition to technical measures, we also focus on resource consumption in our day-to-day hotel operations. When it comes to food, we implement measures designed to help reduce food waste.

We implement various initiatives in the areas of working conditions, employee development, and social responsibility.

Specific Measures in Hotel Operations

At our hotels, we are implementing various measures in the areas of mobility, food service, and waste management.

At select locations, we provide our guests with charging stations for electric vehicles. We are also continuing to expand our breakfast offerings and are gradually rolling out our organic breakfast concept at additional hotels.

In addition, we are collaborating with DeReCon and Renova to analyze and further develop waste management processes.

We are proud of our collaboration with Too Good To Go, an initiative to prevent food waste. In our hotels, we implement targeted measures to save surplus food and offer it to guests at a reduced price. In this way, we reduce waste and conserve resources.

By participating in the Fruchtalarm initiative, we bring joy and healthy nutrition to children’s hospitals. Our employees support this valuable work by regularly distributing fresh fruit and healthy snacks to sick children. This is our contribution to society, with which we bring about positive change.

Orientation for the future

We are constantly refining our hotel concepts and exploring new technical, digital, and architectural solutions.

When planning and constructing new hotels, we take into account various requirements related to the building, operations, and location throughout the different phases of the building’s life cycle. This also includes integrating the hotels into their respective urban environments.

In our Innovation Lab, we develop and test new systems and concepts for hotel rooms and operational processes. Digital applications, decentralized data storage, and smart features are designed to help make processes more efficient and create additional ways to use them.
